DoF, MWASIP tours Dzonzi-mvai Plantation
Yesterday on 08th June, 2023, the Department of Forestry through  Malawi Watershed Services Improvement Project MWASIP visited Dzonzi-mvai Plantation in Ntcheu to appreciate progress of forestry interventions currently underway.

Speaking at the event, Dzonzi-mvai Plantation Manager Jane Nundwe lauded MWASIP for financial support it is rendering to restore the plantation. "Dzonzi-mvai Plantation does not only provide essential ecosystem services, such as production of oxygen, sequestration of carbon, and filtering of water, but also, crucial in achieving long-term environmental, economic, and social sustainability," said Nundwe.

Commenting on the importance of restoring the plantation,  MWASIP Technical Team  Lead responsible for Forestry Tuntufye Mboma said forest landscape restoration is a critical component for maintaining biodiversity, and ensuring a sustainable future for generations.

Meanwhile, the Director of Forestry Stella Funsani Gama is appealing to all Malawians to challenge encroachment as it seriously undermines Government's long-term development plans and objectives as articulated in Agenda 2063 where the environment is placed at the centre of economic development.
